Wordless Wednesday!

Every single time I start putting fresh sheets on my bed Roxy jumps on and refuses to move. This is the result.
I had to lift the sheet to get a picture this time!

I'm linking this to Pastor's Girl's 'On Cloud Nine' because it makes me happy :)

Pumpkin Patch & Other

It's been hard keeping up on here. I thought I would have time over the weekend to update but a 'no plans' weekend turned out to be busy and eventful. Saturday Hub and I, our friends, and our two pups ventured out to a pumpkin farm.
We went through the corn maze, the girls and dogs took the 'easier/shorter' route and the boys took the 'longer/harder' route. We thought for sure we'd beat them. Lori tried navigating through the map and when that eventually failed we tried to follow others who looked like they knew where they were going.

Near the end of the maze we kept getting turned around/lost, then we looked up and saw them watching us from a lookout point. Sure enough, they had won the game and were waiting for us to find our way through. But hey, we had two dogs with us.. and we were enjoying the day anyway ;)  After that we got a bite to eat then picked out our pumpkins to later carve.

Besides a little wind, it was a nice Fall day to be outside and Roxy loved the extra long walk.

Afterwards we dropped Rox off at home, ran errands, went over to Hub's parents for awhile then picked up Famous Dave's delicious food for dinner and watched Invictus.
(I'm pretty sure that's a run-on sentence- oh well ;)

Invictus is a touching true story about bringing together a racially and economically divided country, South Africa, in 1994. Newly elected South African Nelson Mandela believed he could bring all his people together through one common ground, one universal language...a sport. In particular, their country's rugby team the Springboks. He showed his support by attending the games and talking personally with the captain of the team. The Springboks worked hard and won the World Cup in 1995 which indeed united the people in cheer. It was incredible to see how one common interest, a sport, strengthened the entire country. It was a great movie, I definitely recommend adding this to your Netflix line up!

Sunday we did a deep Fall cleaning of the house and took care of the yard work. Later we had a couple friends over for Redskins Sunday Night Football game against the Colts. We lost, but it was a good game. The Colts are a great team and I'm proud of the Skins for hanging in there and giving them a fight till the end!

Other news/thoughts:
Sunday morning I got a call that my younger brother was in a car accident with friends early that morning. He is, thankfully, okay and was able to walk away with minor injuries. But a girl, friend, that he was with is suffering major injuries, including a broken arm and broken femur, which she had to have surgery for today. The scary part is that this happened in a neighborhood. The vehicle went through a ditch and hit two trees. I cannot share the details of what happened because the case is still fresh and under investigation, but I'm just very thankful that everyone is alive and okay, and that something much worse didn't happen. So if you could, keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she can recover fast and be able to chase her one year old son around soon. It's a solid reminder to be careful out on the roads, even a small accident can cause much damage.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Another busy weekend for this girl. Whew, I am so looking forward to not doing a thing this weekend! I can't complain though- it was a good one! Friday night was girls night.. which these days consist of dinner, drinks, and a movie. A bunch of girls were missing this time but we still had a great night.
Ruby Relaxers, Blackberry Rum Runners, and Georgia Peach Martini's
were consumed.

We saw The Social Network. It was definitely one of my favorite movies that I've seen recently.
A really good movie.. a must see.

Saturday Hub and I got up early to spend the day with his Grandma. She has been asking for us two to come down for awhile and we finally had a free day to do so. It was the most perfect, beautiful day. Honestly I don't think the weather could have been any better. We went out to a local restaurant in her area called Pirate's Cove. We sat outside, waterfront, over-looking The West River. Grandma and I started the meal off with Screwdrivers, then we all devoured some sort of crab dish! Crab Cake, Crab Imperial, Fried Shrimp and more. Delicious!

After lunch, Hub, Grandma, and I walked out onto the dock to snap a few photos for mementos.

Grandma is one of the sweetest, kindest ladies you will ever meet.
Below is a view front her front porch, amazing.
After lunch we sat there and chatted about anything and everything, from more serious topics to the show Teen Mom, which I was thoroughly surprised Grandma watches and could tell you everyones name, their child's name, and their situation!
We watched as neighborhood kids played on her nearby playground and people sat out on the dock. Neighbors strolled along the waterfront, walking their dogs, exercising, riding mopeds. All taking in the day.
And as shade slowly took over the yard the herons danced across the water and the sailboats came in.
There were enough to nearly fill the entire horizon. A gorgeous view.
It was such a wonderful day and I enjoyed every minute listening to Grandma's stories and spending time with her. I hope that we can do that again soon.

On Sunday my sister hosted a 'Thirty One' party. They specialize in personalized bags, purses, and totes. Though they also sell home accents and kids items. I had never heard of this them before but really liked their products and ended up getting a lunch tote in my choice of pattern and wording. They are very cute!

After leaving there I hurried home with a friend to meet up with our Hubs and watch the second half of the Redskin vs. Packers game. Ah, another nail-bitting end, but a Win is a Win!

In other news, I am hosting my first party soon; a Scentsy Party! I'm pretty excited about this :) If you're interested in Scentsy but need an consultant here is the web site to a good friend of mine who sells it! If you've never heard of Scentsy then I suggest you also click the link above! I really love what I have bought so far!

Roxy is Ready..

For Halloween!
Are you?
Ha ha her lip looks funny in those two pictures, probably because she was constantly licking them trying to get the bribe treat :)
Today:
Although my parent's dog ripped my new necklace and I ripped the bottom of the hem on my pant leg getting out of my car...it has been a surprisingly good day! It was warm for the first time in a week and my coffee was extra delicious! (Doesn't that make your day?!) Also, take a look at my headband! I won a giveaway from Pastor's Girl's Ponderings blog! It has three hand sewed roses in white, teal, and tan on it. It is made by Hailey Rose, here's the link to her shop Brydferth! I got it in the mail today and I love it!!

In Other News:
Tomorrow is girls night! Dinner, drinks, possibly ice cream, and a movie (The Social Network) Yay! These are always great nights. Though I do miss my Hub. For some reason not seeing him during the week is getting to me again. I should be used to it- it has been this way for three years. Anyway, I won't be missing him anymore because starting Monday he will be on a new permanent shift where I will be able to see him for a couple hours at night! He did this shift temporarily a few weeks back and it was so nice. That's when I was doing those two new recipes a week plan- and sticking to it. When he switched back I lost my motivation and stopped. So, I will be picking that back up! And lastly, I found out that our shutters will be f i n a l l y be installed tomorrow! I'm excited to have the outside finished! It's making a huge difference!

Side Note:
I was given the opportunity to be a little creative and revamp a tale of three poags blog! I mess with my own blog quite a bit so I knew the basics but I did learn a lot. And I must say I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! So go check it out and let me know what you think! Credit also goes to Summertime Designs for her awesomely free scrapbook kits!

Welcome everyone from Friday hops.. leave a comment & I'll follow back :)
