Happy Halloween!

I received another award!
But first, a picture of my niece.
Because I can't get enough of her,
and she's wearing a hat I bought for her.
It's a little big but she will grow into it soon!
(She was only a day old here)
Isn't she the cutest?!

We will be watching the Redskins/Lions game today then we'll go see all my nephews and nieces in their costumes before they trick-or-treat!

Now for a throw back, the only one I could find for now..
My mom to the left with her four babies.
I was the creepy looking clown, yikes.

Bailey,

Hello my sweet little niece.
Baby Bailey.
You came into the world at 3:23pm on Monday, October 25th 2010.
Weighing Six pounds Ten ounces, Twenty inches long.
Your Daddy, Grandma, and two Aunts were in the room
as you made your entrance.
(And of course your Mommy!)
And we all loved you the minute we saw you.

Here I am holding you for the first time.
You were very alert and looking all around.
I'm now an Aunt times FIVE.
And I couldn't feel any luckier.

Your big brother Hayden came to the hospital soon after with Grandpa,
he was so proud and so excited to see his little sister "bailwee"
He held you and stared into your eyes,
and when you started to cry he teared up himself.
you were just hungry, but he didn't like to see you sad.
You are a very lucky baby and will have all the love in the world from your family.
I can't wait till your personality shows and you become your own little person!
You're already thriving. Love you to pieces!

Weekend Report- Part II

As mentioned in my previous post my nephew Hayden is spending the night with me because his baby sister will be entering the world tomorrow! So, after baking muffins we went outside to get all our energy out for the night. We had a great time laughing and being silly over the littlest funnies. And it worked- Hayden is now watching Harry Potter on the couch next to me and Patton is laying under my feet.

giggling because my shoes made him fall over

 aunt bird & Hayden
 aunt 'kaka' and Hayden.

And we can not wait to wake up in the morning, eat our blueberry muffins, and head out to the hospital to see my sister before Bailey is born.  Hayden will go with Grandpa after seeing his momma and I will get to be there as Bailey enters the world :) Hayden is thrilled that he will have a baby sister and I'm so excited to meet my new niece.
 Tomorrow is the big day!

Weekend Report- Part 1

I took my weekend buddy Patton to the dog park. He made a friend, Bentley. And they were soo cute together. They played wonderfully. Nothing like watching a four month old puppy chasing down and flailing his goofy paws on a huge, gentle 80lb dog. Near the end of the time we spent there I remembered I had my camera with me and got a couple shots, but they don't do justice for all the cuteness that went on.

There were times where the puppy laid on his back and pawed up at Patton, and Patton laid down too and gently played with him. Adorable.

Roxy doesn't 'play' with many dogs, she's particular. So this was a real treat to watch. It gave me the 'I want a puppy' itch! But that won't be any time soon!

Sunday Football- of course.
Well this was a bit different from the norm. Hub went to the game in Chicago with a friend so Lori came over and we baked brownies, made grilled cheese sandwiches, watched the game, anndd made these:
Vanilla bean ice cream on warm double chocolate brownies topped with Hershey syrup and peanut butter Oreo crumbs.. is your mouth watering yet?! One word: Yum.

My nephew was dropped off for the evening while my sister prepares for baby Bailey! She will be induced in the morning. So we baked blueberry muffins to enjoy in the morning before departing for the hospital..

 Goof ball...
he was such a good helper

our finished blueberry muffins!

Then we decided to play outside with Patton before settling down for the night..
That will be the next post.

He's a good boy too and knows many commands.

Our Home!

A before and after of the outside of our home!

This was taken in October 2007.
And below is October 2010!
New: door, roof, siding, and shutters.
I don't know if others can tell a big difference or if it's just me knowing that in real life view it looks 20x better but I'm really loving it! I want to tackle those concrete steps and iron railing this Spring with a fresh coat of paint! Oh, and a new light fixture!

It's been three years since we bought our first home, three years since we became 'homeowners'! I'm proud of how far we have come and how much we have achieved. I'm so thankful and happy when I come home everyday to comfort. It may not be a big house or a new house, but it's everything we need. At least for now :)

First Award!

Woohoo my first award! I received the "Sweetest Award" from amylouwho. Thanks Amy!

Wordless Wednesday!

Every single time I start putting fresh sheets on my bed Roxy jumps on and refuses to move. This is the result.
I had to lift the sheet to get a picture this time!

I'm linking this to Pastor's Girl's 'On Cloud Nine' because it makes me happy :)

Pumpkin Patch & Other

It's been hard keeping up on here. I thought I would have time over the weekend to update but a 'no plans' weekend turned out to be busy and eventful. Saturday Hub and I, our friends, and our two pups ventured out to a pumpkin farm.
We went through the corn maze, the girls and dogs took the 'easier/shorter' route and the boys took the 'longer/harder' route. We thought for sure we'd beat them. Lori tried navigating through the map and when that eventually failed we tried to follow others who looked like they knew where they were going.

Near the end of the maze we kept getting turned around/lost, then we looked up and saw them watching us from a lookout point. Sure enough, they had won the game and were waiting for us to find our way through. But hey, we had two dogs with us.. and we were enjoying the day anyway ;)  After that we got a bite to eat then picked out our pumpkins to later carve.

Besides a little wind, it was a nice Fall day to be outside and Roxy loved the extra long walk.

Afterwards we dropped Rox off at home, ran errands, went over to Hub's parents for awhile then picked up Famous Dave's delicious food for dinner and watched Invictus
(I'm pretty sure that's a run-on sentence- oh well ;)

Invictus is a touching true story about bringing together a racially and economically divided country, South Africa, in 1994. Newly elected South African Nelson Mandela believed he could bring all his people together through one common ground, one universal language...a sport. In particular, their country's rugby team the Springboks. He showed his support by attending the games and talking personally with the captain of the team. The Springboks worked hard and won the World Cup in 1995 which indeed united the people in cheer. It was incredible to see how one common interest, a sport, strengthened the entire country. It was a great movie, I definitely recommend adding this to your Netflix line up!

Sunday we did a deep Fall cleaning of the house and took care of the yard work. Later we had a couple friends over for Redskins Sunday Night Football game against the Colts. We lost, but it was a good game. The Colts are a great team and I'm proud of the Skins for hanging in there and giving them a fight till the end!

Other news/thoughts:
Sunday morning I got a call that my younger brother was in a car accident with friends early that morning. He is, thankfully, okay and was able to walk away with minor injuries. But a girl, friend, that he was with is suffering major injuries, including a broken arm and broken femur, which she had to have surgery for today. The scary part is that this happened in a neighborhood. The vehicle went through a ditch and hit two trees. I cannot share the details of what happened because the case is still fresh and under investigation, but I'm just very thankful that everyone is alive and okay, and that something much worse didn't happen. So if you could, keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she can recover fast and be able to chase her one year old son around soon. It's a solid reminder to be careful out on the roads, even a small accident can cause much damage.
